Ok, it has been quite a while since this was published in local newspapers but still, it is better to remember this one.
What happened. Flandersnews.be published an article about spanish students which are somehow to much annoying for Belgium students. This is the original text of the article:
                                                                                                                                                                 
"The authorities of Ghent University, the UGent, have decided to take action against Spanish Erasmus students following a spate of complaints. Fellow students and local residents, who are not unused to the large student presence in the city, are complaining about parties that are too noisy even by student standards.

Ghent is a popular destination for Spanish Erasmus students and once they are here Spanish students are determined to enjoy everything life in the East Flemish capital has to offer them. In recent months though, Paul Van Cauwenberge, the Rector of Ghent University, has simply received too many complaints.

The problem is not new. Complaints were made before and the university authorities earlier took action which they hoped would help to dampen Iberian high spirits. Going by the volume of complaints the measures have not been successful.

Foreign students are concentrated in new student homes on the Kantienberg. In this way the university had hoped to limit the disturbance caused to Flemish students, but clearly this hasn't worked either.

Ghent University has also contacted the Spanish universities where the Erasmus students come from. These universities have been asked only to send good, motivated students who are really interested in the education that UGent has to offer.

If the situation does not change for the better soon Ghent may bar Spanish Erasmus students next year."

I am not a spanish student but I am sure that this concerns all students in Ghent. I could have stayed silenced but at least I wrote this comment on the Erasmus (Gent) facebook page:


"I dont think that the problem is Spanish students in general. It is not the matter of nationality but simply the matter of large group where they ussualy associate...It can be any nationality and since they stick together all the time, they make noise because there is just too many of them. This problem doesnt concern only Spanish students, it can be applied to any large group of students. I dont know where any authority made a mistake but they just shouldn't have tried to alocate as many Spanish erasmus students in one building as possible...that is just stupid! I know myself several Spanish students (some of them are my close friends and we spend time together because we are neighbours) and I dont find them any more annoying than other nations. As long as they are not in a huge group, it is alright!! In a large group of people everybody is just noisy and act reckless."

The reason why I wrote that comment was because I know personally several spanish students and they are really good people and make no problems at all. It is just stupid to put all the spanish students in the same bag and say "no more spanish students"! Those good ones cannot stay silenced and accept it!

Co se stalo. Server Flandersnews.be publikoval článek o španělských studentech, kteří začínají být nepříjemní pro belgické studenty. Původní text článku:


"Úřady Univerzity v Gentu, UGent, se rozhodly zakročit proti španělských studentů Erasmus kvůli spoustě stížností. Spolužáci a místní obyvatelé, kteří nejsou nezvyklí na velké množství studentů přítomných ve městě, si stěžují na párty, které jsou příliš hlučné i na studentské standardy.
Gent je oblíbeným cílem pro španělské studenty programu Erasmus a ti jsou odhodláni využít vše, co život ve východní vlámské metropoli může nabídnout. V posledních měsících se však, Paul Van Cauwenberge, rektor Univerzity v Gentu, prostě obdržel příliš mnoho stížností.


Problém není nic nového. Stížnosti byly dříve a představitelé univerzitních orgánů již v minulosti podnikli kroky, které měly vést k zachování dobré nálady.Vzhledem k objemu stížností to vypadá, že opatření nebyla úspěšná.


Zahraniční studenti jsou soustředěny do nové studentské domů na Kantienberg. Tímto způsobem univerzita doufala, že dojde k omezení narušení vlámských studentů, ale zjevně se to nepodařilo.


Univerzita v Gentu také kontaktoval španělské univerzity, odkud Erasmus studenti pocházejí. Tyto univerzity byly požádány pouze k zasílání dobrých, motivovaných studentů, kteří se opravdu zajímají o vzdělávání, které UGent nabízí.


Pokud se situace nezmění k lepšímu brzy Ghent zamezí příjezdu studentů programu Erasmus ze Španělska v příštím roce. "

Nejsem španělský student, ale jsem si jist, že se toto týká všech studentů v Gentu.Mohl jsem zůstat tiše, ale alespoň jsem napsal tento komentář k Erasmus (Gent) stránce na Facebooku:


"Nemyslím si, že problém se týká španělských studentů obecně. Není to otázka národnosti, ale jen věci velké skupiny, kde se často schází ... Může to být jakákoli národnost, ale jakmile drží pohromadě v podstatě pořád, dělají hluk, protože jich je prostě příliš mnoho pohromadě. Tento problém se netýká pouze španělských studentů, to může být aplikováno na jakoukoli velkou skupinu studentů. Nevím, kde nějaký orgán UGentu udělal chybu, ale prostě nemělo dojít k tomu, aby bylo co nejvíce španělských Erasmus studentů v jedné budově a na jednom místě ... to je přece hloupost! Znám několik španělských studentů (někteří z nich jsou moji blízcí přátelé a trávíme čas společně, protože jsme sousedé) a nemyslím si že jsou o nic více otravní, než ostatní národy. Pokud nejsou ve velké skupině, tak je vše v pořádku! Ve velké skupině lidí, každý je hlučný a chová se bezhlavě!"


Důvod, proč jsem napsal tento komentář je takový, že opravdu znám osobně několik španělských studentů a jsou to skutečně dobří lidé a nedělají vůbec žádné problémy. Je to hloupé a nelze všechny španělské studenty házet do jednoho pytle a říkat "už žádné španělské studenty"! Ti dobří přece nemůžou zůstat mlčet a přijmout toto!
